NCFD crews respond to fire at wood recycling site off Highway 78

Local News

LADSON, SC (WCBD) – Highway 78 in Ladson has reopened to traffic after crews worked to clear a large fire at a wood recycling site early Tuesday morning.

NCFD’s Deputy Chief, Stephanie Julazadeh said a driver first reported seeing fire in the woods off Highway 78 around 4:26 a.m.

Others later reported seeing the fire from their nearby apartment building.

North Charleston Fire crews had to use a nearby hydrant which caused them to shut down traffic along Highway 78 between Ingleside Blvd. and Ladson Rd. for much of the morning.

Crews were eventually able to extinguish the flames and left the scene at 7:00 a.m.
