NCPD arrest suspect in fatal Saturday shooting

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Police Department have arrested a man they say shot and killed and man Saturday afternoon.

Shalhiem Hamilton, 18, of North Charleston has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. 

According to police, shortly before noon, officers responded to 2031 Riverview Avenue in reference to a person being shot. At the scene, the officers found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. 

The victim as transported to MUSC where he later died. The victim’s name has not been released at this time. 

NCPD says it appears that the victim and suspect knew each other. Hamilton is expected to appear in bond court on Sunday. 

A car parked in front of a nearby residence sustained damage from the gunfire as well, according to NCPD. An investigation is still ongoing.
