FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCBD) – Folly Beach City Council is passing a highly debated proposed ordinance regarding golf carts.

Council members say they’ve had several fatal golf car accidents in the city. They say many of these were tourists who did not know the area.

Council members say they’ve tried many things to reduce the problem but are now looking into issuing official decals to drivers who have been trained and insured.

The ordinance will now head to a second reading.
