NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Farmers Market is gearing up for the season.
Located outside the Felix Davis Community Center, attendees can expect inflatables, yoga, fresh produce, music, and more!
Ann Simmons, the Deputy Director for the North Charleston Cultural Arts Department explains that this isn’t a tourism driven farmers market—instead the focus is on the community, “It’s a place for people to come and gather. We have kid’s activities and live music. Also, we’re promoting healthy eating by having fresh and local produce. So, really we just encourage people to come on out and meet their neighbors, get some good food, and enjoy a day in the outdoors”.
The majority of vendors are local to the tri-county area so you can feel good about buying produce grown right from your own backyard.
Local businesses and non-profits that will be set up throughout the day to give you an opportunity to meet your neighbors.
Simmons explains, “The people who are vending at our farmers market are small and local businesses and I think that’s important to the economy to support them and also these are your neighbors so it’s great to get to know them.”
The farmers market will last from 3pm-7pm every Thursday until October 31st. For more information, click here.
