UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 7 | 1:18 P.M.: – Charleston County Coroner releases the name of Hakim Grant, 26, as the pedestrian struck in the Monday morning hit and run on Rivers Avenue.

NCPD reports Grant died at Trident Hospital on Monday at 6:49 A.M. after sustaining fatal, blunt force injuries after being struck by 27-year-old Danielle Weller.

North Charleston PD continues to investigate. Count on 2 for updates.

UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 6 | 4:54 P.M.: 27-year-old Danielle Weller is arrested and charged with hit and run involving death after striking a pedestrian Monday morning at the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Greenridge Road.

According to NCPD, officers responded to the scene at 6:22 A.M. and closed a portion of the intersection at around 6:55 A.M.

NCPD reports that the hit pedestrian was taken to a hospital where he died.

Officers found a vehicle matching the description of the one reported in the accident and made an arrest.

Weller is currently in the Charleston County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The North Charleston Police Department reopened a portion of Rivers Avenue at Greenridge Road just after 9:00 a.m. following a pedestrian crash Monday.

Officials with the North Charleston agency announced the lanes were closed around 6:55 a.m. due to a collision in the northbound lanes.

They expected the lanes to be closed “for a while” as they worked to clear the scene.

Police did not release any details about the collision or the condition of the pedestrian that was struck Monday morning.
