Officers arrest suspect who was wanted for the Max Quick Stop shooting in N.Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Officers with the North Charleston Police Department have arrested a suspect wanted for murder.

At about 1 am, on May 25th, the North Charleston Police Department Officers arrested Donte Benson in connection with the homicide that took place on May 12th at 2000 McMillian Ave, according to Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor.

Benson was charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime.  Benson was scheduled to have a bond hearing this morning.

The incident took place shortly before 11 p.m., on May 12th, Officers responded to that Max Quick Stop located on McMillan Avenue. On scene, Officers located a male victim lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.  

He was transported MUSC where the victim died overnight as a result of his injuries. 

Witnesses stated several people were fighting outside when gunfire occurred.
