Officials execute water rescue in the Maryville area Saturday afternoon

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCBD) – On Saturday, February 2, at approximately 2:18 p.m. crews from St. Andrews Fire Department, Charleston Police and Fire Department along with several units from Charleston County EMS were dispatched to the fishing dock in the Maryville area of West Ashley for reports of a person in distress in the water.

The news release stated that units arrived at the dock and made contact with a Charleston Police Department Marine unit that was talking with the distressed person in the water. Officials radioed that this was an urgent situation and requested additional assistance.

Officials entered the water to assist the person while the CPD Marine unit ferried additional personnel to help with the rescue efforts.

Officials were able to assist the victim into the CPD Marine for treatment.
