One-month-old girl who died from blunt force trauma identified by Coroner

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston County Deputy Coroner identifies the one-month old baby that died from blunt force head trauma.

Lovanna Wilson, a 1 month old, was pronounced deceased at MUSC on August 18, after being transported by EMS from her residence on Ozark Street, according to Deputy Coroner Anita Hasert.

Her cause of death is blunt force head trauma, Coroner Hasert stated. The manner of death is Homicide.

The man accused of murdering a one-month-old infant waived his bond hearing.

Troy Wilson, 29, is charged with homicide by child abuse and/or neglect.

Officers responded to 4915 Ozark Street in reference to an infant that was not breathing on August 18th, according to Spencer Pryor with the North Charleston Police Department.  

The infant was transported by EMS to MUSC for treatment but later died, Pryor added.

Following the death, North Charleston Police Department Investigators and the Coroner’s office began a suspicious death investigation.

According to the affidavit, Wilson waited three hours after the infant sustained the injury to call 911.
