Orangeburg County deputies search for armed robbery suspect

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)- The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the man they believe kidnapped and robbed an Orangeburg County couple Thursday afternoon.

The couple told investigators a man came to their home on Wesley Grove Road asking for a ride to a gas station. Once he was in their truck, the man pulled out a knife and demanded the truck be stopped. Deputies say the suspect then tied up the male victim and began to drive the truck.

The couple tells deputies the suspect drove back to their home, ransacked the house, stealing a handgun, TV, and other items. OCSO says the suspect also forced the male victim to call his wife and have her withdraw money from the bank.

The suspect fled in the couple’s truck and it was later found abandoned.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is now searching for the suspect and created a composite from the description given by the victims.The suspect is described as a black man, approximately six feet tall and weighing 150-180 pounds. The couple says he was wearing a camouflage shirt, dark pants, and dark shoes.
