JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – A waterspout was spotted near James Island on Friday.
A small thunderstorm moved along the coast and passed over Folly Beach and James Island around 10:00 a.m.
A viewer, who lives along the marsh on James Island, said she happened to look out the window when she spotted the waterspout and snapped a few photos.
Storm Team 2 Meteorologist Josh Marthers said, “funnel clouds and waterspouts can easily form in this type of environment along the coast, but are very weak and not necessarily a sign of a storm’s intensity. Although a couple of waterspouts will be possible into early afternoon, no significant land impacts are expected.”
