Poet Nikki Giovanni visits the Lowcountry for the Black Ink Festival

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Black Ink Festival welcomed one of the world’s most well-known African American poets and authors to the Lowcountry, Nikki Giovanni.

Giovanni read poems and talked about her life as a human and Civil Rights activist, writer, and college professor.

News 2’s own Carolyn Murray was the emcee for the festival which was held at Memmiger in Downtown Charleston.
