Police apprehend man following hit-and-run incident in downtown Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The Charleston Police Department made an arrest following a hit and run collision in downtown.

Onerea Jones was arrested on Saturday evening, one day after the incident. He has been charged with leaving the scene of a collision resulting in great bodily injury.

On Friday, March 8th at approximately 7:45 p.m. a young woman was crossing King Street just north of Heriot Street near the Charleston Fire Department Station, according to Public Information Officer Charles Francis. A grey/silver sedan, believed to be a Toyota, was traveling northbound, towards North Charleston, when it struck her and fled the scene.
