SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating after two people were found dead in an apartment off Old Trolley Road.

Investigators with the Summerville Police Department said the bodies of a man and woman were discovered at the Summerville Station Apartment complex Wednesday morning.

Officers initially responded to the apartment for a welfare check around 11:00 a.m.; police do not suspect foul play in this case.

The two were later identified by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office as 53-year-old Richard David Seastrunk and 59-year-old Tammy Sue Gerbert.

“There was a family member who hadn’t heard from a relative in a couple of days. She came over here to check and asked for the police department’s assistance,” said. Lt. Chris Hirsch with the Summerville Police Department. “One of the officers got inside and that’s where two bodies were found.”

Police say they did not see any obvious injuries on the bodies. They hope to learn more following an autopsy that is scheduled for Saturday.
