Police searching for information after weekend shooting at W. Ashley restaurant

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – On October 21 at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the Wingstop at 1319 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard  in reference to an active shooter in progress, according to the incident report.

Upon arriving on scene officers made contact with the witness who advised that he was in the parking lot of Starbucks when he observed several people shooting at each other in front of Wingstop, the incident report stated.

The witness stated that one of the suspects began to fire gunshots at the two vehicles in the parking lot. Several people exited the vehicles and began shooting at the suspect.

After firing several shots from, the suspect who was firing from the Wingstop was observed running towards the Charleston Amish Furniture store. The group of suspects that were firing from the vehicles got out of their cars and chased the suspect on foot for a short distance, according to the incident report. They eventually ran back to their vehicles and fled the area.

No one inside the business was struck by any of the bullets, authorities stated.

The investigation is still ongoing.
