Police: Suspect arrested for murder after victim succumbed to his injuries on life support

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – On December 3, 2018, emergency units responded to the 2000 block of Beech Street in reference to a victim having a seizure, according to Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor.

At the time of the response emergency officials deemed that the scene looked unusual and called the police, Pryor added.

On December 4th, 2018, Investigators received word that the victim, Maurice Wigfall, whom was hospitalized by a reported seizure was actually assaulted.  The victim was on life support and his status was deteriorating. On December 20, 2018 the victim succumbed to his injuries at MUSC.  

An autopsy was conducted, and it was discovered that the cause of death was blunt force trauma and ruled a homicide.

During the investigation, Detectives identified a suspect and on January 31st an arrest warrant was obtained on Rajon King for Murder. 

Pryor stated that King was apprehended at 7910 Crossroads Drive and was transported to Al Cannon Detention Center for a bond hearing on Saturday.
