Power restored to nearly 3,000 customers after car crashes into utility pole

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – A traffic collision on Dorchester Road knocked power out to approximately 3,000 SCE&G customers early Wednesday morning.

According to dispatch, a vehicle crashed into a utility pole in the 6800 block od Dorchester Road near Lambs Elementary around 5:00 a.m.

Approximately 3,000 customers were without power for about 45 minutes because of the crash, according to Paul Fischer, a Public Affairs Specialist with SCE&G.

Power has since been restored to all customers, with the exception of one local business.

Crews remain on the scene making final repairs.

There is no word on what led to the crash or the driver’s condition.
