Radio personality Richard "Box" Bachschmidt found dead

MT. PLEASANT, SC - A well-known and loved radio personality, found dead.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says the body of 43-year-old radio DJ Richard "Box" Bachschmidt was found early Friday morning in a parked car in a wooded area off Belle Hall Parkway, near his new podcast studio.

Bachschmidt had been missing since Tuesday. Family and friends had filed a missing person report.

"Box" was a familiar name in the Lowcountry for 15 years as the host of "Box in the Morning" on 105.5 The Bridge, being called "Charleston's morning mayor". He was named "Best Local Radio Personality" several years on Charleston City Paper's "Best of Charleston".

After that, he ventured out on his own, starting a podcast.

As of right now, the cause of death is pending.
