RAVENEL, S.C. (WCBD) – A caller was arrested after falsely claiming that a subject was armed with a shotgun.
On February 18, 2019, just before 7:30 p.m., Charleston County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a call in the area of Teaster Lane for a report of a subject armed with a shotgun, according to Public Information Officer Roger Antonio.
Deputies responded in emergency mode, with lights and sirens activated. Deputies, armed with rifles, detained individuals at the scene.
After investigating the incident, deputies determined that the caller had falsely informed dispatchers that a suspect, his son, was armed with a shotgun, in attempts to expedite a response.
The caller, Vickie Amerson, was charged with Misuse of 911.
