Report: Downtown Charleston restaurant employee stole, attempted to cash checks

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The owner of Sorghum & Salts filed a police report with the Charleston Police Department in reference to Forgery on August 6, according to the incident report.

The report states that at approximately 4:00 p.m., on August 5th, the owner received a telephone call from Approved Cash Company in reference to a person named Crystal Tolson.

She was trying to cash several checks at the location on Savannah Highway and that the owner stated to the caller that the checks were possibly stolen because he did not write or authorize the checks to be written, the report added.

After observing his check book and realizing that three checks were missing from the location that Tolson works at on 186 Coming Street.
