Residential parking permits not a good fit for the Old Village, study shows

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – A residential parking permit study has been completed for Mount Pleasant’s Old Village.

It found that the program is not a good fit for the community.

The town now wants to outline more on-street parking. The study also discussed partnering with local restaurants to minimize parking in residential areas.

The restaurant consortium is now working with the owner of the private parking deck at Shem Creek to make parking there more attractive.

That study also suggested the town provide a shuttle between activity zones and available parking facilities during peak times and events.
