Nearly 100,000 South Carolinians are living with the disease that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior.

The Roper St. Francis community has a research team that gives patients access to cutting edge international research studies and treatment options, without leaving the Lowcountry.

“We have access to the really big studies that you are reading about in major publications. You are able to participate in those studies while living in Charleston and surrounding areas without having to travel to much larger cities in order to have access to these research study opportunities,” said Abigail O’Connell, an Alzheimer researcher at Roper St. Francis. “
