CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs released their first Homeowners Association Complaint Report. The report is searchable and can serve as a sort of portal for others looking to learn more about their HOA.
Under a new state law, the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs is required to collect certain data from HOA complaints and share the information with the public.
The first report includes complaints from June 1, 2018, to December 31, 2018. During the time period, the SCDA received 92 HOA complaints. 86 people filed complaints against 42 HOA’s.
Richland County saw the highest number of complaints in the state. Horry and Greenville County’s followed Richland County with the second and third highest number of complaints.
