SCHP: 1 dead after three-vehicle accident on I-26

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal three-car fatal collision that happened on I-26 on Saturday morning.

The accident happened at approximately 1:45 a.m. on the westbound side of the interstate in Berkeley County, near the 194 mile marker. 

According to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern, a motorcycle struck the back of a tractor trailer which then hit a pickup truck in the lane next to it.

The motorcyclist was identified as 33-year-old Tyler Adams of Columbia. He was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Kristen Mazzell of the Berkeley County Coroner’s Office. Southern said he was not wearing a helmet.
