BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — One person is dead after an accident on I-26 Monday night.

Coroner George M. Oliver stated that the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a driver ran off the westbound side of the road and hit a truck holding an arrow board near mile marker 197 just after 10 p.m. last night.

We’re told the impact killed the driver of that car.

Troopers say someone outside their vehicle was then hit by their own car.

That person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to SCHP.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is also investigating the accident.
