MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A new worship center here in the Lowcountry is ready for its debut.
On Wednesday, leaders at Seacoast Church invited members of the media for a look at the newly expanded location on Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant.
Leaders say the expansion provides the resources to better serve all of Seacoast’s campuses and especially their communities through local and global missions, relief efforts, and more.
The new facility seats about 2,500 people, which is nearly double the number of seats as the old auditorium.
Greg Surratt, the church’s founding pastor, said there is still a feeling of closeness, despite the size of the church and that the new seating has a special meeting.
“We originally thought different color seats would be a nice aesthetic in the room, but over time we saw it expressing one of the key parts of our vision—which is more diversity,” he said. “So, as we look at the seats and the shades that are there, we see a picture of God’s humanity and who we want to be.”
The church will hold an official grand opening event Memorial Day weekend.
