The annual Sweet Tea Festival was held in downtown Summerville on Thursday, now it its seventh year.
Attendees could sample sweet tea from 25 local vendors from all across the Lowcountry and get to vote on their favorite kind.
Nonprofit organization Summerville Dream organizes the festival, and director Micheal Lisle told News 2 that the event is about a celebration of sweet tea and everything that makes Summerville special.
“It celebrates what sweet tea is to Summerville,” said Lisle. “Sweet tea is just part of Summerville life. We are the birthplace of sweet tea and it gives us a chance to come out for an evening, celebrate that and taste a lot of different interpretations of sweet tea.”
The festival is part of the Third Thursday events hosted by Summerville Dream.
