Severe thunderstorm watch issued for portions of the Lowcountry

Weather alert day has been issued for today, sorry moms!

Some of today will be dry with partly sunny skies, our highs will climb into the 80s. Winds will be gusty ahead of any storms this afternoon, out of the southwest between 5-15mph with gust upwards of 25+mph. A few storms this afternoon could become strong the severe with the main threats being gusty winds, hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain.  Make sure to stay weather aware and have a way to get watches/warning as you head out to celebrate your mom today.

Our weather will stay active into the with temperatures falling back into the upper 60s inland to low 70s along the coast. Wind will be out of the southwest between 5-10mph. The severe threat will diminish as we lose the heating of the day. Clouds will slowly clear out overnight, giving us a nice start to the work week with partly sunny skies. Highs on Monday will warm into the 80s, with elevated humidity. The more comfortable air behind the cold front will move in by Tuesday with humidity dropping and temperatures topping out in the mid-70s to low 80s.
