CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – At approximately 5:38 p.m., a six-vehicle collision took place on Glenn McConnell Parkway between Magwood Drive and Charlie Hall Boulevard.

According to Public Information Officer Charles Francis, a driver apparently experienced a medical emergency while traveling north on towards Bees Ferry Road and came into contact with five other vehicles which were either slowed or stopped in rush-hour traffic.

That individual was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina where he is still being treated at this time. One other party was transported to Saint Francis Hospital with minor injuries.

The northbound section of the roadway was closed for approximately three hours while MAIT completed the investigation and towed the vehicles from the scene.
