Monday was the first day of class for Rollings Middle School of the Arts students in a brand new building.
After years of planning, construction and delays, Dorchester District 2 opened the school’s new location on Highway 61.
Some students said they were excited to be starting the year in the new facility.
“I’m just blown away with how amazing it is,” said student Danielle Sprague.
Principal Patrick Pye told News 2 that there are a lot of new upgrades for students to look forward to as the school year begins.
“We’ve got two state of the art dance studios,” said Principal Pye “There are state of the art sound systems. The visual art studios are very impressive. The tables are this wood, specialized wood tables that are good to work with paints… We’re taking this thing to the next level.”
The school’s former location on South Main Street in Summerville will be converted to administrative offices for the school district.
