On Tuesday, Summerville police officers escorted two tractor-trialors full of supplies from Flowertown to Horry County, S.C., where many homes have flooded in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence.
Over the past week, Summerville residents, businesses, and even a group from Miami, dropped off food, water, shoes and other essential items for a supply drive organized by the Summerville Police Department.
The agency coordinated with the Salvation Army and Horry County Emergency Management to organize and deliver supplies to those in need.
The goods were taken to a warehouse where volunteers from an organization called F3, a men’s faith-based fitness group, unpacked and organized the items to get ready for distribution.
Summerville Police Department officials told News 2 that the department delivered 40 pallets of supplies in total and called the supply drive a success.
