Three shot during gathering in Summerville, police say

UPDATE: Miles Jamison Road has reopened, Arbor Road remains closed.


SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating after multiple people were shot Saturday evening in Summerville.

Dispatch received calls about a shooting around 7:00 p.m., according to Lt. Chris Hirsch with the Summerville Police Department.

He said the shooting happened during a gathering in an open field in the 300 block of Miles Jamison Road, which has been shut down amid the investigation.

There is no word on the extent of injuries.

Police say the scene remains active and a motive for the shooting is unclear.

The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the road closure.
