Summerville PD investigating after 5-year-old killed in shooting late Thursday night

UPDATE: The Dorchester County Coroner confirms that a five-year-old girl died in the shooting last night.

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – The Summerville Police Department (SPD) is investigating a Thursday night shooting that left one person injured.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Langley Drive at around 10:00 pm on Thursday, August 6.

When they arrived, officers found a home that was struck multiple times by gunfire.

A five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the Summerville Medical Center on Thursday night.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday, August 9 at the Medical University of South Carolina.

The Summerville Police Department is continuing to investigate the shooting.
