Suspect charged with grand larceny after woman found shot in Mt. Pleasant’s Old Village

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – Authorities in Mount Pleasant are conducting a death investigation.

According to Inspector Chip Googe with the Mount Pleasant Police Department, officers were contacted on February 9th in reference to a missing person from the Old Village.

A person was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Googe stated.

Officers responded to the scene and found the victim, later identified as 60-year-old Ann Witherspoon, deceased.

An email from Chief Deputy Coroner, Bobbie Jo O’Neal with the Charleston County Coroner’s Office say Ms. Witherspoon died as a result of a gunshot wound.

She says the manner of death is pending. We’re told an investigation is still on-going.
