NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Trident Medical center is kicking off National Mental Health Awareness Month.
On Friday, they held a Mental Health Month Symposium.
Several medical professionals spoke about services and available resources for patients across the Lowcountry.
Much of the conversation discussed was about how mental illness impacts the Lowcountry.
“A lot of that conversation was talking about how to get people access to the treatment that is available, whether they are inpatient, outpatient or specialty services, and a lot of the conversation centered around transportation and housing and the challenges that are inherent in the area,” said Dr. Jeffrey Cluver.
Trident Medical Center said Friday’s roundtable event was to advocate for treatments and opportunities for the future plants.
