Two charged in Orangeburg officer involved shooting

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCBD) – Agents of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Tuesday arrested an Orangeburg man and a Columbia woman in connection with an incident Saturday in which officers were fired on by someone in a stolen car.

Phillip Michael King, 31, of Orangeburg, was charged with three counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, one count of Possession of a Stolen Handgun and one count of Possession of a Stolen Handgun with the serial number damaged or removed, according to spokesperson Thom Berry with SLED.

Cleo D. Strong, 34, of Columbia, has been chaged with one count of Misprison of a Felony.

King and Strong were booked at the Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Detention Center, Berry added.

This is an ongoing investigation an no further information about the case will be disclosed by SLED at this time.
