Two suspects arrested after traffic violation turns into drug bust

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) -On February 22nd,  Officers conducted a traffic stop following a traffic violation by the driver on Ballantine Dr near Thorton Dr.   

The driver stopped initially and when officers got out of the vehicle, he attempted to leave, but quickly pulled over again.  A felony stop was conducted at that time, according to Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor.

Both the driver and passenger were removed from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted, which uncovered a red Nike shoe box containing a ziplock bag filled with 9 clear plastic bags containing approximately 258.2 grams of compressed white powder like substance which field tested presumptive for cocaine, according to officials.

The shoe box also contained an additional clear plastic bag containing white compressed powder like substance weighing approximately 29.4 which field tested presumptive for cocaine and three off white rock-like substances weighing approximately 74 grams which filed tested presumptive for cocaine.

Bernard Aaron Green, 31, of  Mt. Pleasant, was charged with Trafficking Cocaine/ Trafficking Cocaine Base.

Courtney Mashea Nelson, 33, of Johns Island, was charged with Trafficking Cocaine/ Trafficking Cocaine Base.

Both were transported to the Dorchester County Detention Center.
