Victims brought back to shore after reports of overturned kayakers near Pawleys Island

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Officials with the Midway Fire Resuce have launched water resources and have made contact with the victims approximately 1 mile from the shore off of the South End of Pawleys Island.

According to a tweet from Midway Fire Rescue, the victim is being brought to shore.

Officials with the Pawleys Island Police Department tweeted that the kayakers overturned at the south inlet and appear to be in distress.

“Units are responding to a report of kayakers who have overturned in the ocean at the south inlet and appear to be in distress.”

Crews with Midway Fire Rescue are also responding to the south end of Pawleys Island to assist with the overturned kayakers.
