A 91 year old Summerville resident, who recently had a procedure done, isn’t letting it get her down.
91-year-old Julia Tourtellotte went back to Trident Medical Center to reunite, and have a recovery dance with her doctor, Sabino DAgostino, MD, the neurosurgeon who performed her minimally invasive robotic spine surgery.
Tourtellotte, who started dancing at the age of 49, now teaches 90-minute clogging classes at Faith Sellers Senior Center in Summerville.
So, after experiencing pain in her legs, she met with Dr. DAgostino, who told her about the minimally invasive surgery option at Trident, the first hospital in South Carolina to offer the service last March.
Tourtellotte said she had no pain in her legs after she woke up from surgery and during a three-month recovery period, she said she would move her feet to dance steps when she was sitting down.
The day after she was cleared to go back to her regular activities, she started dancing again.
