Woman arrested for filing false police report against ‘Southern Charm’ star

Local News

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (WCBD) – Police in Mount Pleasant charged a woman for filing a false police report this week, accusing a ‘Southern Charm’ star of sexual assault.

According to police, Susan Johnson reported the incident in August of 2017, a year after the alleged incident with J.D. Maddison would have happened.

In an email to News 2, Inspector Chip Googe with the Mount Pleasant Police Department said detectives uncovered inconsistencies in Ms. Johnson’s story.

He said evidence was obtained during their investigation which indicate the allegations were untrue.

Johnson was arrested for filing a false police report and transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.

A statement by Johnson’s attorney, Robert “Trey” Harrell, says “she was severely intoxicated on the night in question and so naturally there are some inconsistencies in her recollection.”
