Woman paralyzed after attack, suspect denied bond

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCBD) – According to NCPD, 41-year-old Samuel Graham allegedly attacked a woman on Monday. He is charged with Attempted Murder and Carjacking. 

In an incident report, officers say they came across the partially unconscious victim lying partially in the roadway in the area of St. Johns Avenue and O’Hear Avenue.

When officers attempted to wake the female victim, she appeared to be bleeding from her right ear and advised that she was having trouble breathing and had chest pains.

The victim told officers she was helping a woman and her brother from her church when she was tased and then pushed out of a vehicle. Affadavits state the woman was hit in the head and neck several times with an unknown object during the carjacking. 

Officers later found Graham inside the victim’s vehicle at the corner of Florida Avenue and Ubank Street.

NCPD spokesman, Spencer Pryor said the victim was assisting the suspect and their family member who attended her church. When the suspect asked the victim for a ride, he the allegedly beat her up during the ride and stole her vehicle.

Affadavits reveal the woman is paralyzed as a result of two brain bleeds and a severe hematoma to her spinal cord near her neck. The victims is intubated and unable to speak but is alert. Police say they were able to ask her “yes” and “no” questions that led to the Graham’s arrest.
