SAVANNAH, GA (WCBD) – Police in Savannah are looking for the person who they say put googly eyes on a statue.
Officials say they eyes were placed on the Nathanael Greene Monument in Johnson Square sometime Thursday.
The eyes were removed and it did not appear to damage the statue.
Authorities say the person responsible is wanted for trespassing.
Greene was one of the country’s military leaders during the Revolutionary War, ranking second to George Washington.
He lived in Savannah with his family following the war, but he died shortly after of heat stroke.
Officers with the Savannah Police Department are reviewing security camera footage in an effort to find a suspect.
