NEW YORK (WCBD) – Kathie Lee Gifford delivered her final farewell Friday during her last appearance on The Today Show.
On set, she described why the show has worked out from the very beginning.
“We have fun and we have a friendship—it’s real, we have a great love and affection and respect for our audience,” she said. “We know you guys are sick of bad news by the time you turn on our show in the morning… we don’t want to be more bad news for you.
Kathie Lee has hosted Today’s fourth hour with Hoda Kotb for eleven years.
While in Charleston last month for the Charleston Wine and Food Festival, Count on 2’s Deanne Roberts got the chance to sit down with Kathie Lee for a one-on-one interview.
When asked about her departure, Kathie Lee said she had nothing holding her in New York anymore. “I’m ready for a brand-new season in my life, I’m writing movies, starring in movies, producing movies, it’s what I’ve wanted to do my whole life.”
She also hinted at one upcoming television project. “I have one thing in the works, but it’s not like anything I’ve done before. That’s all I can say, it would be a lot of fun and out of Nashville,” she said.
