Police salaries in South Carolina are far below national average

(WCBD) – Every day more than 670,000 police officers across the nation put their lives on the line to protect us—but despite their daily sacrifice there’s a surprising range in law enforcement salaries across the nation.   

The team at Your Local Security compiled and analyzed data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Bureau of Economic Analysis to determine each state’s average police officer salary, adjusted for cost of living. 

Our research indicates that South Carolina police officers earn far below the national average of $64,490. The state is over $17,000 below the national average, and ranks as the 5th worst state for adjusted police salaries.
