North Charleston attempted robber shot with own gun by victim, police say

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC — Police are investigating an attempted robbery and shooting in the 1500 block of Sumner Avenue.

North Charleston police officers say shortly before 7:00 p.m. Saturday, a man was approached by three young black men as he walked out of his home. One of the men was holding a silver revolver, and the men demanded money.

Police say the victim grabbed the gun and was able to shoot the man in the left thigh. The two others ran away from the scene.

The suspect that was shot was taken to MUSC with non-life threatening injuries.Police charged the juvenile with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile. He was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice,
