One adult killed, three children rescued from fire in Dorchester County

DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — Fire crews responded to a fatal structure fire in the 8100 block of Ridgebrook Dr. in Dorchester County Friday.

The call came in around 9:30 a.m to the Ashley River Fire and Rescue who says they were able to respond within 5 minutes. When they arrived they could see flames billowing from the second story windows.

There were 4 people inside the house at the time. Crews were able to rescue 3 small children that they found hiding in a downstairs bedroom. They were taken to MUSC but sustained no serious injuries.

The fourth, 68 year old Bernard Kennedy, died from injuries sustained from the fire. Firefighters found his body in the room where they believe the fire started.
