On Thursday, March 3rd just after 4:30 p.m., Bluffton Police Officers were dispatched to River Ridge Academy where a teacher said a mother was attempting to pick up her children, but appeared to be under the influence.
Officers arrived to find 34-year-old Jennifer Gayda outside the school in her vehicle. Officers began asking her questions and noticed Gayda was slurring her speech. Gayda did tell police she had taken a prescribed drug earlier that morning.
Officers conducted several field sobriety tests. A search of her car was also conducted in which drug paraphernalia was found. Subsequently, she was arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has a court date later this month.
