Police search for armed robbery suspect in Mount Pleasant


MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) — Police are asking for the public’s help in searching for an armed robbery suspect in Mount Pleasant.

Around 6:10 a.m. on Thursday, officers responded to Lafayette Village in reference to a reported armed robbery of a person. The suspect was able to make off with the victim’s wallet. The suspect is described as an unknown race male wearing a black shirt, a black zip up hoodie, and blue jeans.

According to Charleston County School District spokesperson Andrew Pruitt, James B. Edwards Elementary school was placed on code yellow (administrative) lockdown while the search is underway. The lockdown has since been lifted, according to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Investigations Bureau at 843-884-4176.
