NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — North Charleston Police are searching for a man they say robbed a convenience store clerk at gunpoint on Ashley Phosphate Rd. early Tuesday morning.
According to police, the robbery happened around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Short Trip convenience store on Ashley Phosphate Rd. near Mixson Ave.
Authorities say the suspect pulled a gun on a cashier and took two smoking pipes, worth about $30, before driving off. Security footage showed a man with wearing a white T-shirt, blue shorts and flip flops arrive just after 12:30 a.m. Authorities say he drove to the store in a mid-2000s model Nissan Altima, and took off on Ashley Phosphate Rd. toward I-26.

During the investigation, officers went to the Sunoco across the street. The cashier recognized the photo of the suspect that police showed her, and said the man entered her store before going to Short Trip. Police later learned the unidentified man is the same suspect in a robbery that happened on Sam Rittenburg on Monday evening.
