Removal of Confederate Flag on City of Charleston’s agenda

Charleston, SC – Council members with the City of Charleston will vote on a resolution Tuesday involving the Confederate Flag.

A resolution is on Tuesday’s agenda in support of State Senator Marlon Kimpson to remove the Confederate Flag from Chapels in Institutions of higher learning.

Currently the Confederate Naval Jack Flag hangs inside the Summerall Chapel.

The Citadel Board of Visitors in June of 2015 voted to remove the flag, but South Carolina’s Heritage Act requires that state lawmakers approve the removal.
