MANNING, S.C. (WCBD) – The Clarendon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating following a deadly altercation Friday, August 19.

Authorities say Wallace Demery Jr., 27, of Manning, is charged with manslaughter. He was awaiting a bond hearing as of Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff Randy Garrett says the incident happened at about 8 p.m. at Mid-Eastern Truck Wash on A.M. Nash Road.

We’re told Jeffrey Myron Ceasar, 34, went into the business to speak with Demery and the two men got into a heating argument. The argument turned into a physical fight, resulting in Demery beating Ceaser to death with a wrench. “The victim died as a result of the beating,” Garrett said.

Ceasar was pronounced dead at McLeod Health Clarendon from head injuries.

An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday at the Medical University of South Carolina.
